Google Search
Google provides a robust set of features to allow streamlined searches in a wide range of categories. For example, Everyday Essentials allows you to search weather, stock quotes, time, sports scores, music and sunrise & sunset times. Simply enter in key words, click search and Google does the rest.
Google Reference Tools
Need to calculate an equation, or find out information about the latest earthquake in a specific location? With Google Reference Tools all you need to do in type in your complicated equation, click the search button and Google will take you to the next page containing your answer. Other reference tools include a Public Data search. Say you're interested in the unemployment rate in California, simply type in "unemployment CA", hit the search button and you'll find out what you already knew - it's exponential, at least by the end of 2010 it was at 12.5%. The search result provides related information associated with the search like a link to edd.ca.gov/employment for an overview, or information on filing a claim. Better yet, search for a lost friend or new interest in the People Profiles section.
Choosing Keywords
Google offers the ability to search for synonyms, dictionary definitions and even has a must-have spell check. For a Synonym Search enter your search term with a tilde sign (~) immediately in front of the word. Google results will give you the term plus its synonyms.
Local Search
This category contains two sections. One for conducting a local restaurants/businesses search and one for searching local movie show times.
Health Search
Curious about a certain aliment? Wondering what's in that pill you just took? Within Google's Health Search is a tool for finding information on Health Conditions - type in a common disease or symptom - or in the Medications search, enter the name of a drug.
Trip Planning
Lucky enough to travel? Google has a map tool, currency conversion and flight tracking.
